The Trail Boss Is Finally Available for the Chevrolet Silverado HD

The 2025 Chevrolet Trail Boss adds some extra equipment and styling pieces to complete the Trail Boss lineup across all the Silverado models.

If you like the Trail Boss version of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, you’re going to love it in HD form. Chevy is finally bringing the off-road-ready trim to the Silverado 2500 and 3500 models, and it’s better than ever.  Have you been waiting for another off-road Silverado HD? Here’s your chance to find out what it’s all about.

The Trail Boss We Know and Love

We already know what the Trail Boss can offer. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers it in two different trim levels. The Custom Trail Boss has four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, and that underbody skid plate for extra protection. The LT Trail Boss builds on this by adding some more upscale features so you can drive in style whether you’re on the road or on the trails. It has a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a plush, heated, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

How Do You Get the Heavy-Duty Trail Boss HD?

The Trail Boss package will be available for the LT and LTZ trims. This means that it will have all the standard features that come with the LT and LTZ models, but with the addition of the Z71 shocks, 20-inch black wheels, off-road tires, and upgraded suspension. The package will make the Silverado HD stand out with Trail Boss bed decals, blacked-out bumpers in the front and back, red recovery hooks, and black badging.

There’s Plenty of Power to Go Around

Under the hood of the 2025 Trail Boss, you’ll find a 6.6-liter V8 gas engine. It generates 401 horsepower and gets 464 pound-feet of torque. This, of course, is the Chevy HD, so the 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine is available. Choosing this gets you 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque to use out on the trails.

What About the ZR2?

If you’re wondering why offer the Trail Boss package when the Silverado HD is already available as the ZR2 with all its off-road glory, it comes down to making it more affordable. If you’re on a stricter budget than the ZR2 allows, or you don’t go off-roading enough to justify the expense of the ZR2, then the Trail Boss is the perfect solution. It gives you the capability to take to the trails when you want while keeping your payments within your budget.

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Is on Its Way

While the biggest news for the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD is the addition of the Traill Boss, there are some other minor updates for the rest of the lineup. If you like the blacked-out look for your truck, the new Black-Out Package for the Custom is worth a look, and the entry-level Work Truck, Custom, and LT trims all get the option for front and rear parking sensors.
