Honda Civic Gets Restyled for 2025

Every model of the Honda Civic has undergone a mild restyling for 2025. The differences are most evident in the wheels, grille, and lighting internals. However, Honda has also made some changes under the hood.

While a used Honda Civic will feature the old naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cyl engine, the 2025 models have a new engine that’s slightly less powerful, but also quieter. Plus, Honda has improved the suspension and body stiffness that tamp down freeway cabin volume.

The Honda Civic hybrids, in particular, also add active noise cancellation and extra cabin insulation, making them some of the quietest compact cars available.

What’s Beneath the Hood of the Civic Sport Touring Hybrid

The Sport Touring Hybrid features a hybrid gas/electric powertrain that combines a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle 4-cyl engine with two electric motors and a 1.1 kWh battery. The Sport Touring Hybrid has taken over as Honda’s top-spec powertrain, replacing last year’s Sport Touring model.

The new hybrid powertrain brings extra power to the table at 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque while simltaneously boosting the Civic’s EPA-estimated fuel economy all the way up to 48 combined mpg compared to last year’s turbo engine, which only got 35 mpg combined.

Going Hybrid Turns the Civic From Great to Amazing

A used Honda Civic is already a fantastic car. These sedans and hatchbacks have excellent fuel economy for vehicles with internal combustion engines, are fun to drive, and have much to offer in style.

Honda turned a car that was already great into one that’s downright amazing by adding the hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system works differently from most. In Toyota hybrid cars, for example, the gas engine still does much of the work of moving the vehicle forward via the transmission, though the dual electric motors can power the wheels for short periods.

The 181-hp primary electric drive motor tackles most of the hard work in the Honda Civic hybrids. The engine spins a smaller starter-generator unit that feeds electricity to the battery. In other words, the 2025 Honda Civic hybrids behave more like EVs than ICE cars.
