Hyundai makes eight SUVs or crossovers, and the powertrains are a combination of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, fuel cell, and gas. Many of Hyundai’s SUVs are new in the last few years, but the Tucson and Santa Fe stand out as the most venerable members of the lineup. Let’s take a closer look at the lineup of new Hyundai SUVs.
A Hyundai Triple Threat: Tuscon, Santa Fe, Palisade
The base of Hyundai’s SUV lineup is made up of the Tuscon, Santa Fe, and Palisade. The Palisade is Hyundai’s three-row, upscale SUV. It debuted for the 2020 model year and is going into 2023 with a wide range of new features. This large SUV offers 291 horsepower and an available HTRAC AWD.
The rugged Santa Fe came out way back in 2001, but it’s still going strong with 281 horsepower on the gas version and an available HTRAC AWD. The Santa Fe also comes in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions for even more versatility. With classic midsize appeal, the Santa Fe is popular with families.
The Tuscon has been around since 2005 and now features plug-in hybrid and hybrid versions just like the Santa Fe. With a sporty and sensible appeal, the Tucson gets up to 187 horsepower for 2023 and offers an available HTRAC AWD.
Branch Out With the Kona, Venue, and Santa Cruz
Also in the lineup of new Hyundai SUVs is the subcompact Kona, which debuted in 2018. The Kona is one of the most versatile SUVs in Hyundai’s lineup with even a performance version called the Kona N. The other alternative Kona model is the all-electric Kona with an estimated 258 miles of range.
The Venue is Hyundai’s small SUV with big ambitions to conquer the urban wilderness. With a super affordable price and up to 33 MPG on the highway, the Venue has a lot to offer the urban driver. Despite its subcompact size, the Venue is surprisingly roomy inside.
Tagged as Hyundai’s sport adventure vehicle, the Santa Cruz combines the comfort of an SUV layout with a compact pickup bed. The Hyundai Santa Cruz offers up to 281 horsepower, available AWD, and an affordable starting price below $30,000.
Alternative Power
If gas vehicles aren’t your thing, Hyundai offers a few SUVs that run on alternative power. The NEXO Fuel Cell is a hydrogen-powered SUV that is available only at select California dealers. It has an estimated range of 380 miles and makes up to 161 horsepower.
The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s breakthrough all-electric SUV that was built to be exclusively electric. Its range is 303 miles and it can make up to 320 horsepower. The Ioniq 5 has an ultramodern design that stands out, and it charges quickly.
Along with the two vehicles mentioned above, Hyundai has hybrid and plug-in versions of its other models like the Kona, Santa Fe, and Tucson.
With so many great new Hyundai SUVs to choose from, it’s not hard to say that there’s a little something for everyone in the automaker’s SUV lineup.
