A New Subscription Service for GM

GM will begin entering new territory for carmakers outside of luxury brands with a new venture rolling out in their top models.
As mobility services become more popular, the need to offer a way to drive a lineup of models is more necessary than ever. Several brands, mostly luxury names, have begun to offer subscription services that allow a member the access they want to an entire lineup of vehicles that can be right for the drive. A new name has entered the subscription market and with this name, it could mean access to a wide range of models from several different brands that a person could be able to drive and enjoy on the road.

GM Trademarks “DriveScription”

While not the most creative of names, the DriveScription service makes it easy for you to understand what this service will be and how it can affect you and your driving needs. This new trademark is filed under the Goods and Services banner and is expected to be applied to automotive subscription services, motor vehicle rental services, motor vehicle sharing services, and temporary use of motor vehicles. This means a person who is part of the DriveScription services could take advantage of a variety of GM products to ensure they can have the vehicle they need for a period of time.

Maybe not for Cadillac

This isn’t the first time that GM has offered a subscription service. Cadillac already offered the Book by Cadillac program, which is a subscription service used for a variety of Cadillac models. Those that take advantage of what the Book program offers, pay $1,800 per month and have access to any Cadillac model offered and can change models up to eighteen times per year. If the new DriveScription service is similar to the Cadillac program but offered for the other GM brands, it could give a member access to a wide range of models.

What Could DriveScription Offer?

Imagine you choose to have a Chevrolet Cruze as the car you drive every day, but you’re planning a vacation where you need to load up a large vehicle to take the family on a trip. With this subscription service, you could change to a Tahoe, a Buick Enclave, or a GMC Acadia with ease. Maybe you need to bring home a load of products from the store to handle a weekend project, you could then choose a Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Sierra for the job. For those times when you want to take your spouse out for a great night on the town, the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Corvette, or a GMC with the Denali trim could be the right answer.

An Alternative Reason

The trademark of the name, DriveScription, could be used to set up the launch of the autonomous services for the Cruise AV system for GM when it’s ready for customers to make use of it. This is probably the most boring way this name could be used, but it’s possible that GM is getting ready for this launch. It will be interesting to see how the DriveScription name is used for the mobility services offered by GM.
