Nissan Frontier

You may not realize it, but Nissan makes a couple of tough and capable trucks in the Nissan Frontier and Nissan Titan. Both trucks stand out in their respective classes, but choosing between them depends on what kind of truck you need.

Let’s take a look at these two options from Nissan.

Nissan Frontier: True Midsize Marvel

The Nissan Frontier stands out in its class for being a no-frills midsize truck that truly has the abilities of a midsize truck. Many midsize trucks are quite large these days and don’t have the maneuverability of a true compact pickup. The Nissan Frontier goes against this trend by continuing to deliver a compact size. Despite its size though, the Frontier has plenty of power with an energetic V6 engine and smooth-shifting automatic transmission.

Like most other trucks, the Frontier offers RWD as the standard layout with 4WD as an option. However, if you spring for the Pro-4X model, you’ll get standard 4WD as well as other rugged options to improve off-road ability like skid plates and stronger shocks. Standard Frontier models are also quite capable off-road with hill-descent control and a transfer case.

Earlier models of the Frontier are quite sparse with modern tech, but the newer models have revamped cabins and more modern tech.

Nissan Titan: Power and Prowess

The Nissan Titan is the larger sibling of the Frontier as it runs in the full-size truck class. If you need more towing power, then the Titan delivers with a 5.6-liter V8 that makes 400 horsepower. Like the Frontier, the Titan features a nine-speed automatic transmission delivering power to the wheels. The Titan offers a smooth ride for a full-size truck, which is one of its more attractive points compared to some stronger competitors. When properly equipped, the Titan can tow up to 9,300 pounds, which is plenty for most applications.

Also, like the Nissan Frontier, there is a Pro-4X trim of the Titan for all the off-road enthusiasts looking at Nissan trucks. Compared to the Frontier, the Titan obviously offers a lot more room with a spacious four-door layout. It can seat up to six people vs. the Frontier’s max room for five. The Titan does offer a more modern and luxurious cabin vs. the Frontier as well.

Nissan Titan and Nissan Frontier: Two Great Picks

Both the Titan and Frontier are great picks for any truck buyer. If you need more room, more tech, and more power, then it’s pretty clear that the Titan will be a better choice for your situation. The Frontier is best-suited to those who want a compact work truck with competent off-road ability. The rugged simplicity of the Frontier is appealing to some drivers just like the grand experience of the Titan is appealing to others.

In other words, you can’t go wrong with either of these tough trucks from Nissan.
