2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV

Jeep fans have been waiting patiently, and now the brand’s top executive says the wait is almost over. The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV, the first range-extended electric SUV sold in America, is “right around the corner,” according to Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf. With 647 horsepower, more than 500 miles of total range, and a fresh approach to electrification, this flagship three-row is about to rewrite what a big American luxury SUV can do.

  • 647 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque from dual electric motors, with a 0-60 mph time of roughly 5 seconds
  • 92 kWh battery, 20-gallon fuel tank, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 generator for over 500 miles of total range
  • Launch slipped slightly so Stellantis can hit quality and production targets at Warren Truck Assembly

What’s Holding the Launch Back

The REEV variant was originally targeted for the first half of 2026, but Jeep is moving deliberately rather than rushing it to dealers. Broderdorf promises the first extended-range electric vehicle in America is almost here, though he’s clearly not interested in committing to a hard date.

The reason comes down to plant readiness. Jeep is prioritizing production stability and quality at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, where the Grand Wagoneer is built, making sure both the existing twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane I6 models and the upcoming REEV variants can be produced efficiently on the same line without quality compromises.

Broderdorf also pointed to a different approach to product launches under Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, with Jeep taking a slower, more measured path instead of the rushed rollouts seen in the past. On the company’s earnings call earlier this year, Filosa addressed Stellantis’ quality problem, saying it had hired thousands of new engineers and was bringing on even more.

How the 647-HP Powertrain Works

This isn’t a plug-in hybrid in the traditional sense. Unlike a battery-electric vehicle, the REEV system uses electric motors to drive the wheels at all times, providing instant torque and smooth acceleration. Instead of relying solely on a battery pack, it adds a gasoline-powered generator that keeps the system charged when needed. Think of it as an EV without the stress of hunting for a charger every few hundred miles.

The hardware is serious. The extended-range Grand Wagoneer will arrive with a 92 kWh battery pack and a version of the Stellantis 3.6-liter V6 used solely to charge that big battery, with electric motors front and rear sending 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque to the wheels. A 250-kW electric drive unit sits at the front axle and a 238-kW unit at the rear, pushing the Jeep to 60 mph in about five seconds.

Jeep estimates 500 miles of total range and around 150 miles on battery power alone before the engine kicks in. A key detail is the REEV’s 20-gallon fuel tank, which is a bit smaller than the one in the Ram 1500 REV due to packaging constraints related to the Grand Wagoneer’s rear HVAC system. The smaller tank still pairs with an efficient Atkinson-cycle Pentastar V6 generator to keep the battery charged and extend total range.

A Simpler, More Focused Wagoneer Lineup

The REEV arrives as part of a broader cleanup of the Wagoneer family. As part of the rebranding to reduce confusion, the standalone Wagoneer is gone for 2026, leaving just the Grand Wagoneer with fewer trim levels that now match those on other Jeep models, including the base Grand Wagoneer, Upland, Limited, Limited Reserve, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Interestingly, the REEV won’t wear the familiar plug-in hybrid badge. Although it belongs to the electrified family, the REEV will skip the 4xe label, as Jeep is reworking its naming strategy to clearly separate the different technologies available.

Pricing and When You Can Buy One

Jeep hasn’t dropped exact pricing yet, but expect this trim to sit at the top of the Grand Wagoneer ladder. Early industry estimates suggest the REEV model will start north of $90,000 in the U.S., with dealer arrivals expected during 2026. The EREV Grand Wagoneer will actually be the first Stellantis product to launch with this powertrain, with production expected to start early in the second quarter of 2026.

That timing puts the Grand Wagoneer REEV ahead of the Ram 1500 REV (formerly Ramcharger), even though both share most of the same hardware. For Jeep, beating its corporate sibling to market with the headline tech is a quiet win.

What to Watch For Next

If you’re shopping for a full-size luxury SUV that can run errands on electrons and tackle road trips on gasoline without anxiety, the Grand Wagoneer REEV is shaping up to be a compelling pick. The mix of 647 horsepower, three rows of space, and 500-plus miles of range hits a sweet spot no other American SUV currently fills. Expect more concrete launch details, pricing, and EPA numbers to drop in the coming months as Warren Truck ramps up production and quality checks fall into place.
