Prices for used Jeeps have gone down in recent months after record highs for used vehicles across the board. This may continue into the future with gas-powered Jeeps as more EV models are on the horizon. Jeep recently announced that it has plans to launch at least four new EV models by 2025. Three models were known at the time–the Recon, Wagoneer S, and Avenger AWD, but the fourth was unknown.

Fourth Model Teasers

Jeep released a teaser for that fourth model recently, but it does little to tell us what it is. The picture appears to be a small crossover beneath a blue cover with Jeep’s EV brand logo above it. The teaser definitely doesn’t reveal much, but rumors are flying that the new EV model will be positioned in the lower part of the lineup and marketed as a mini electric Jeep.

That news creates a few questions. Will the new EV be smaller than the Avenger or larger? And, possibly most importantly, will the new EV model be available in the United States? Based on previous precedents, if the model is smaller than the Avenger, it probably won’t be sold in the US. Already, the Avenger is considered too small for the US market and is currently only being sold in Europe.

Avenger Sales Are Brisk

With regards to the Avenger, sales are relatively brisk in Europe. Jeep has already logged roughly 22,000 pre-orders for the small crossover. In the countries of Spain, Italy, and Poland, the Avenger is sold only with a combustion engine. In all other European countries, the Avenger only comes with an electric powertrain. A dual-motor version with AWD will be launched by 2025.

As for the other upcoming EV models from Jeep, the Recon will be a Wrangler-inspired SUV with zero emissions and based on the Setallantis STLA large platform, and the Wagoneer S will be a large SUV built on the same architecture and capable of going zero to 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds. Jeep announced last year that it expects to have half of the North American lineup and all of the European lineup electric-only by 2030.

Jeep Visualizes an Electric Future

Like many other automakers, Jeep is visualizing an electric future for motoring. Last year on September 8, Jeep designated it as 4xe Day and unveiled its plans for three EV models to enter production in the next few years. Jeep expects to only offer EV models in Europe by 2030. The Jeep Recon and Jeep Wagoneer S will be added to the global market and the Jeep Avenger will be only for Europe.

Of these three, the Recon got the most attention for its Wrangler-inspired design and off-road capability. Despite the similarities, the Jeep Brand CEO promised that it’s not a replacement for the Wrangler.

As more EV models hit the market, you can probably expect prices for used Jeeps with combustion engines to fluctuate depending on demand.
