What offers you 640 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 200 mph? The list that fills that particular question with an answer can be quite extensive and while you try and figure out what car of the many that can achieve that particular feat let’s add a bit more to the question and give you a few hints. This car is not a supercar, it’s not considered to be a sports car at all (although it certainly could be) and this car is actually an American made model. Now your list just got much shorter, but you still might have any idea exactly what I am referring to at all.
If you haven’t guessed by now, it’s time for me to tell you; the car in question is the Cadillac CTS-V. While there probably won’t be a huge amount of sales for the CTS-V, it’s certainly the model from Cadillac that actually shows us the power and performance that we all want in a sporty car. Instead of just being a sports car the CTS-V is also a fantastic luxury car with all the Cadillac features you could expect including the soft ride magnetic suspension found under the car that helps keep the car balanced and perfect on the road.
Of course the suspension is not all of the performance parts that are put under the car to get the drive you want. The CTS-V features redoubtable Brembo brakes, a hyper engineered chassis and the five mode Performance Traction Management system to ensure you will have a luxurious ride from behind the wheel and in any of the passenger seats of the car. With all this performance at your fingertips there has to be an engine under the hood that can actually match wits with this equipment and give you the power you desire.
Under the hood of the CTS-V is the result of collaboration within GM between Cadillac and Chevrolet. The CTS-V benefits from the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that is found under the hood of the Corvette Z06. With this engine aboard, the 640 horsepower is present as is the 630 lb.-ft. of torque that is needed to give the car the power that is desired for this amazing luxury and power performance to be enjoyed on any road. This power quantity shows up as a much higher power output than the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-AMG E63 to give the most power in the class.
With the power under the hood and the performance parts in control you can make the run to sixty mph in only 3.7 seconds and the quarter-mile trip is completed in only 11.6 seconds. Even though the Dodge Hellcat twins are more powerful at 707 horsepower neither of them can actually match the CTS-V for the performance offered. When it comes to luxury and sport together it’s hard to beat the CTS-V for everything that is underneath the hood and inside the cabin. The CTS-V certainly allows you to drive in whatever way you desire with this awesome car and still have plenty of room to enjoy the ride with your whole family while carrying your entire luggage as well.
