2016 Town Country

When asked about minivans and the ones they have loved over the years, many families let us know the names they have trusted have been from Dodge and Chrysler.  This makes perfect sense since the Grand Caravan and Town & Country has both bee nameplates that have carried on the longest, giving their brands a leg up in knowing what families want and need in their minivan.  While the Grand Caravan has always been the affordable option, the Town & Country typically offers more features and elements to make it more expensive, but also give us a van that is much closer to luxury.

Minivans have one real purpose; to transport families and their stuff safely and efficiently.  This is no reason for you to not be able to travel in style and the Town & Country gives you that style even on the base models.  The standard features list for this offerings list for this van is more extensive than you will find on most minivans, making it a leader in its class.  These luxury features do not go without the ability to be versatile and provide ways of making the transportation of children and their things easier for parents.

Coming into 2016 the Town & Country is helping Chrysler celebrate their 90th anniversary with a special Anniversary Edition of the van which includes a power sunroof, heated front  and second row seats, a heated steering wheel and special badging.  Of course even if you do not choose the Anniversary Edition you will buy a great van that offers two favorites on board; rear seat entertainment and excellent safety.  Nothing is more precious than the cargo a minivan hauls on a regular basis and with the menu of advanced safety features this van is sure to take care of the little ones while they enjoy their favorite shows and movies on the nine-inch video screen that is fed by the DVD console and offers wireless headphones.  An upgraded version of this can give you a second screen and  a Blu-ray player.

Speaking of features, the Town & Country offers a long list of great standard features.  There are six trim levels to choose from: LX, Touring, S, Touring-L, Limited and Limited Platinum.  When you start at the LX you do receive power-operated side and rear doors, leather trimmed upholstery in the first and second rows, an entertainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, tri-zone climate controls, a rearview camera, an HDMI port, and a five year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty that also covers roadside assistance.  This gives you a fantastic minivan from the beginning to build upon.

Looking toward the optional features, most of them are gained by moving up trim levels.  The Town & Country offers you a navigation system, a power sunroof, a Wi-Fi hotspot for Internet access, an as mentioned improved rear seat entertainment system, heated first and second row seats, HID headlights, a power folding third row of seats, a heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring and the ParkSense rear parking assistance system.  This only highlights some of the amazing features you can include on this minivan which is made to be perfect for carrying and keeping your whole family safe on the road.

Driving this long lauded minivan is a pleasure cruise.  With a suspension that feels light to the touch and a steering system that will respond to every input, you can be sure the ride will be smooth and elegant in order to let those who choose to nap through the drive the ability to do so.  As a vehicle that is made for great entertainment for the whole family the Town & Country offers you a quiet cabin that is easy to enjoy while being entertained by one of the movie favorites for the kids.

The Town & Country offers a great deal of power from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine which has nearly 300 horsepower to give you more than enough power to move your herd.  This engine allows you to load down your van with a weekend project or take the kids out for a weekend getaway at the beach or lake for some fun in the sun.  The only knock on this engine is the fuel mileage which comes in at 17 city/25 hwy mpg which is somewhere along the lower parts of fuel efficiencies for most minivans.  Overall, the drive and engine included in this minivan are well worth a little more time at the gas pump.

Looking to the pricing part of this van, the Chrysler Town & Country at the base LX model shows up just under $31,000 which is a great value for this minivan.  On the other end of the spectrum, a fully loaded Limited Platinum model will fetch a price of $43,000 but this makes it a minivan that really is very close to a luxury model.  Although it might not seem like this pricing is in line with other minivans, it certainly is and with six trims you can find ways to select the van that is right for you and your family at the right price.

We have seen the Town & Country on the road for generations and this minivan is simply a modern styled version of the early days.  Not impressed by crazy designs that have come out for some of the competition the Chrysler designers kept to a simple style and elegant form that we have all come to know and love.  It’s a minivan and its job is to haul people and stuff, not stand out like a sports car.  The Town & Country does a masterful job of being elegant and stylish without giving up its roots.

Inside the cabin, where you will spend a majority of your time, the Town & Country offers seven-passenger seating across three rows with the second row comprised of two captain’s chairs.  The Stow ‘n Go system is present for both of the rear rows which allows the seats to fold flat or create additional cargo space under the floor.  The controls are easy to find and with some of the upper trims you really will feel as if this is a luxury minivan instead of one from a name you recognize as easily as the Chrysler Town & Country.
